TRAVEL TIPS

Children in New Orleans

The Times-Picayune's Friday arts and entertainment insert, Lagniappe, lists upcoming events for families and kids. The Louisiana Children's Museum, the Audubon Zoo, and the Insectarium often have activities that are both educational and fun.

Be sure to plan on visiting the French Quarter, but avoid Bourbon Street. Things are out in the open, whether you plan to see them or not. In the evening, Bourbon Street quickly becomes overloaded with large, noisy, and drunk crowds.

If you’re renting a car, don't forget to arrange for a car seat when you reserve.
